One of my proudest moments. After initially have been asked to help with the summary illustration about two years ago, it slowly evolved into me doing all of the figures, asking so many questions trying to understand, that they ultimately changed the entire story and included me as a co-author. This project has easily been the most difficult thing Ive tried to make sense off and I had to start to make figures for myself just to be able to communicate my questions, several of which later ended up in the paper. Article revolves around genetics and treatment of schizophrenia and depression in youth.
One of those times I also wish I had more time to work on it but the constraints of life made it impossible. Several things I would like to adjust/fix but I just didnt have time to. For me it was fun stepping out of my comfort zone a bit and doing something more like regular drawing. Failed attempts are such a big part of worklife that I try to enjoy them anyway. 🤷‍♂️

Since I used to work with developmental neurobiology this was a fun overview of the human development to do. Even with years in the field its tricky to mentally keep in the head how the cell layers at implantation actually ends up a tiny human in the end. Not often but Im actually happy myself with how this turned out. It works pretty well as a simplified flowchart of all the major stages.

I saw Swedish news pick up the story of the research by Hugo Zeberg et al, that found the major genetic risk for sever covid is inherited from Neanderthals and remembered I did this illustration when the story came out. It was never really finished due to workload at the time so it was more of a mockup.
